BioForm BZ® Benzene

Supplier: Virent

Description

Virent’s BioForming® process converts aqueous carbohydrate solutions, including conventional sugars and a wide range of compounds derived from biomass, into mixtures of “drop-in” hydrocarbons.

BioForm BZ® benzene is a high-purity benzene product that meets industry standards and is expected to achieve cyclohexane grade with further refinement.

It is a direct drop-in replacement for petrochemical benzene, and its use can reduce GHG emissions by up to 70% compared to traditional benzene.

BioForm BZ is TSCA listed, and product registrations in other regions, including REACH, will be obtained prior to commercialization.

As a key building block in the chemical industry, benzene is used to produce a wide range of materials, including polystyrene, nylon, polyurethanes, and polycarbonates.
