ACS Green Chemistry Institute

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Green Chemistry institute offers a wealth of information about green chemistry, engineering, research and advocacy efforts.

A summary of their approach to green chemistry can be found in their 12 Principles of Green Chemistry.

Notably, the 7th principle of green chemistry focuses on the “Use of Renewable Feedstocks”.

USDA Biopreferred

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Biopreferred program seeks to increase the purchase and use of biobased products across a wide spectrum of applications areas.

The USDA website includes information about labeling requirments, a biobased product directory, training resources, company information, policy initiatives, federal purchasing guidelines, and much more.

re:chem™

The Renewable Chemicals and Materials Alliance (re:chem) was founded by a group of commercial leaders in green chemistry and renewable materials. They continue to focus on renewable chemical and advanced material priorities: “our agenda is to enable access to capital and speed to market to drive this fast moving sector in the US.”

Bioplastic Feedstock Alliance

The Bioplastic Feedstock Alliance (BFA) was formed by some of the world’s leading consumer brand companies as a precompetitive, multi-stakeholder forum focused on increasing awareness around the environmental and social performance of potential feedstock sources for bio-based plastics.

The Green Chemicals Blog

Authored by Doris De Guzman, a long time contributor to the biobased knowledge community, this blog features a wealth of information about new biobased chemical feedstocks and technology, company developments and new partnerships, studies and reports, and much more.

Biofuels Digest

Biofuels Digest is a unique online publication and digest featuring news and information about advanced genetics, nutrition, biomaterials, renewable fuels, green chemicals, advanced agriculture, robotics, microbes and catalysts.

Biobased World News

CBiRC

The NSF Engineering Research Center for Biorenewable Chemicals (CBiRC), administered through Iowa State University, was founded in 2008 with a focus on advanced manufacturing progress for sustainable biobased chemicals.

Biobased Maine

Biobased Maine is a business-led trade association creating good manufacturing jobs in Maine by converting our renewable biomass to higher-value products, chemicals, and fuels for which there is rising global market demand.

OBIC Bioproducts Innovation Center

The OBIC Bioproducts Innovation Center, based at the Ohio State University College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, is an alliance of research institutes, companies and funding and policy agencies. Their mission is to expedite the commercialization of biobased products.
